WORKSHOP:

DESIGN THINKING

We are proud to have a certification in Design Thinking from IDEO, a global leader in design committed to making an impact. From designing the first manufacturable mouse for Apple to advancing the practice of human-centered design, IDEO has long been at the forefront of creating change through design.

“Design thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designer's toolkit to integrate the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success.” —Tim Brown, President and CEO of IDEO

Design Thinking Matters.  Companies and leaders today need new ways to solve new challenges and seize opportunities faster to stay ahead. Design Thinking is a process and a capability that transforms how we think and work and helps us to reimagine how we solve a wide range of problems and deliver value to customers, external and internal. It can be applied to products, services and processes. It provides a structure to navigate complexity and, in the process, builds creative adaptive problem solving leaders and teams.

The main goal when applying design thinking is to create the final product that satisfies the needs of the customers. The process of design thinking as a strategy of innovation puts together creative thinking, logical thinking, and experimentation in the face of a lot of testing and prototyping in order to achieve the perfect product for the end-user.

As a method for solving complex problems, Design Thinking helps organizations discern unmet needs and create value from these insights. Yet, the real benefit of Design Thinking is seeing how employees and colleagues personally transform as they get exposed to the iterative Design Thinking process - empathy, define, ideate, prototype, test and co-create, and storytelling.

At Co-Creative Consulting, we would love to work with you to infuse this capability into your organization by engaging your leaders and teams in a real world problem-based workshop customized for your organization.

In this highly experiential 2-day workshop, participants will be led through the 5 steps of the design thinking process - understanding the people and problem, and taking action.

Step 1: Empathize - EMPATHIZE is the important first step in knowing where your end users are coming from, understanding their  preferences, and uncovering the real issue.

Step 2: Define - Taking the time to DEFINE the problem backed by your research and observations will allow you and your clients to get and stay on the same page. Once you’ve done that, the direction is clear, and you can continue to point back to the problem and need you’ve defined as a point of reference.

Step 3: Ideate - If you make the most out of the IDEATE phase, you will have end users who are more than satisfied with what you’ve created and clients who won’t need to look over the menu, but will come to you for their next challenge. This phase is also a great opportunity for you and your team to make sure your creative juices never stop flowing.

Step 4: Prototyping - The great thing about PROTOTYPING is it’s a great and inexpensive way to keep your         clients in the loop and partner with them as you continue designing and developing.

  • Is this what they envisioned?

  • Does this seem like the best road to a soution to the defined problem?

  • Where do we need to make changes?

Prototying can save you time and money as you address concerns early on, before the design is fully built out.

Step 5: Test (Implement)The data you receive from the TEST phase is quite valuable. It may confirm things you already suspect or bring to light things you haven’t considered but need to address. You should walk away from the Test phase with more insight on:

  • Learner usability/functionality

  • A grasp on whether the problem can be solved using this learning strategy

  • Whether the experience is well received and impactful

  • Whether you keep going…or stop…or change directions
